MY'HAGONY FOUNDATION

For our Son Splash event half of your money will go to those who are less fortunate.

The name My'hagony is rememberance of a beautiful young lady I met almost seven years ago. I had just moved to Los Angeles from New York City. After two months of being here I gave my life to the Lord. Within that period of time I met My' Hagony at a bus station. We both were on our way to an audition. We both made a connection that day. We shared our lives and dreams in the few minutes of meeting. After exchanging numbers , we decided to meet up again. We met up at a cafe in Bevery Hills a couple weeks later. Over coffee we talked some more about our struggles and what we wanted to do with our lives. It was a great hot summer afternoon in the year 2000 and I looked so forward to see My" hagony again. She was my new friend here in Los Angeles. However that did not happen . A couple months went by and I did not hear from her.

After maybe three months I was on my way to the gym, when I heard a voice. It was that distinct voice of My'Hagony that you could not forget. Not sure where the voice was coming from , I looked around. I folllowed the voice to the parking lot of a bank on Crenshaw Boulevard . It was My' Hagony, but not the My'Hagony I once knew with dark glowing skin, piercing eyes, and a captivating smile. This My'Haony was dirty, haven't taken a shower for days, and have completely lost it, sitting under a card board box - HOMELESS. My'Hagony recognized me... I was not sure if she was Bi-polar or what?. But she recognized me. As we spoke she told me of the heart break of a current boyfriend...the lack of money....her past...and much more.

As a Believer in God, I thought well the right thing to do was to bring her to my house but the problem was it was not my house. I was renting a room out from a friend. However, she was away for a week, so I decided to take this girl into my friends apartment hoping that I would find some help for her. I took her at the time to my current church for help, but no one offered any help or how she could be helped. As the time drew near, I wondered in my heart " God there must be something we could do". At the time I was also trusting God for a stable home. As a person who once was homeless for a season, I understood, My'Hagony's pain. The only difference between us both was, I had hope. The Bible say's "A dream deffered makes the heart sick" My'Hagony's heart was sick and in that moment there was no one present to help or wanted to help.

The time was winding down for My'Hagony to leave and all I had to give was the clothes I had. But the Lord spoke to my heart and said" Give her your best". Reluctantly I gave her my favorite and most expensive dress I had in my closet. I gave her my favorite and most comfortable Nike sneaker. She took a showerand put my clothes on. I braided her hair and I watched My' Hagony walked off into the streets of Los Angles. This picture have and will always be imprinted on my heart forever. As we do this concert, on June 28th it is our heart desire not to do it just so we may be entertained, but that we can take the opportunity to bless the less fortunate among us. I have no idea where this is going but may God get the glory in the earth. The greatest lesson I have learned in my life up to now is not to just love those who are just like myself, but learn to love those that are offensive to my own human pride and those who provoke the selfishness that is so hidden beneath my piety.

God Bless
